Today's chem lesson was interesting... Mr Chew was comparing the behaviour of a mixture of 20% oil and 80% water to the behaviour of students in acs(i). Haha. This is what he was talking about...
You will notice that in the mixture, the oil forms little round globules floating around in the water. This is because there are not forces of attraction between the oil and the water molecules. However, the water molecules are attracted to each other and are bonded by hydrogen bonds, thus the oil molecules are 'squashed' by the larger amount of water molecules and form little spheres here and there.
This is what happens in school too. Most of the acs(i) boys already are in their own groups at the start of the year (that may include some mgs girls) and so when some of the new people come in, they don't really have a group to hang out with. And so what happens is.. you get a clique of people who do not belong in any clique! Because they have no choice right? So they hang out with each other just like the oil molecules!
Same thing when all the couples start to form. The couple would have natural attraction and bonds to each other (just like the water molecules bonded by hydrogen bonds) and you find that you can't really hang out with them anymore (unless you are very thick skin) You become like the oil molecules.. somehow there just isn't that attraction anymore and you can't really interact much with them anymore.
Haha I was kinda amused by all these things Mr Chew said. Most of it is actually quite true (as I have experienced myself over the past month and OEP). He told us, one day just observe the behaviour of students in the SAC during break, and you'll be able to see how an ideal gas behaves. hahaha.
I think couples are sweet la, but I kinda miss the good old times where everyone was just friends :) I guess those young and innocent days are long gone.
Much as it's fun and interesting to observe how all my friends and schoolmates behave in school, and to learn so much about human social behaviour, it's always a weight off my shoulders to hang out with my dear churchmates and God :)
